We are Rob and Kerry. We have been married since 2007 and over the years we have fallen in love with exploring the world. Kerry was bitten by the travel bug in her early 20s after taking a two-month backpacking trip around Europe with a friend right after graduating from college. Rob grew up in Virginia and lived in the Philippines for two years with his family as a child, but did not do much international traveling for leisure until after getting married. Our first trip together was probably a cheap Caribbean cruise, which we enjoyed. A few years later we ventured to Mexico and stayed at an all-inclusive resort. Over the next few years we broadened our horizons to visit Costa Rica and Belize. Around that time we recognized we both preferred experiencing new cultures and having adventures over just a relaxing vacation in a familiar place. We have visited several countries in Asia and Africa together since then and our bucket list of places we hope to visit is very, very long.
We love a good value but our travel style is not exactly budget backpacker nor full fledged luxury but somewhere in between. We do splurge and stay in some really awesome places (especially when we can use rewards points) and enjoy some pampering from time to time but we also appreciate the simplicity and authenticity of a basic local guesthouse. Outdoor adventures are something we seek out pretty much everywhere we go.
As a vegan couple we love seeking out vegan-friendly cuisine and have found it is entirely possible and usually not really all that difficult to embrace and enjoy our plant-based lifestyle while traveling. We love to cook and eating delicious and nutritious food is a big part of our lives both while at home and when on the road. We also value traveling responsibly. Leaving light footprints and doing no harm is our goal. Above all else we love meeting new people, experiencing different places, and learning as much as we can about this amazing planet.
